The hairy stamen tulip

The hairy stamen tulip (Tulipa dasystemon Regel) is described in 1880 from the vicinity of Almaty. There are two leaves, the stem is low up to 15-20 cm, the flower also does not exceed 2.5-3 cm, but unlike the previous species it is not white, but bright yellow. It blooms from early May to July, as it grows in the upper belts of the mountains (2000-3000 m above sea level). It occurs in the mountains of the Northern Tien Shan and in the Kirghiz ridge - in the valley of the Merke River and further to the east.

In the western part of the region under similar conditions grows a tulip falsely-hairy stamen (Tulipa dasystemonoides Vved.) which differs in white flowers (though sometimes yellow-flowered forms are also found).
